Hello dear sisters.

We have some very sad, but not unexpected news to share. As many of you know, the Woodlands is closed until further notice in keeping with California State orders around the Covid-19 virus. Over the last few weeks the council has been talking about the impact on the festival. It seems clear now that this virus is not going anywhere soon and that even if the Woodlands is open in August it would not be wise or safe for us as a community to gather there this year. We have many sisters who are over 50, there is no way to social distance in the dining hall and regular hand washing would be very difficult.

For all these reasons the council has decided with a heavy heart to cancel the 2020 Elderflower Womenspirit Festival.

We are going to have regular social meetings on Zoom and community members will also be able to offer workshops and discussion groups on the platform. Priestess Kathleen has offered to do a remote ritual on the date and time that it would have been at the festival. We are doing everything we can, and are open to suggestions, to keep our community strong and vibrant through these difficult and challenging times. Other ideas have been discussed and will be fleshed out over time.

We hope you all understand how much it hurts us to make this decision, but as someone said last night at our meeting:

We stay apart now so that when we meet again, no one is missing.

Blessings and love to all,

Suzanne, Phyllis & Bear
